Can You Wear Your Hair Short after an ARTAS™ Robotic Hair Transplant?

So, you’ve just undergone an ARTAS™ Robotic FUE Hair Transplant procedure with one of our professional hair restoration experts at PAI Medical Group Indiana. Your procedure went tremendously well and you are one step closer towards regaining your confidence. You will be able to return to work within a few days, but in the meantime you might have a few outstanding questions about your hair post-procedure. At PAI Medical Group Indiana, our process goes beyond the hair transplant procedure itself. It’s our responsibility to ensure the comfort of our patients before, during and after their procedure. We care about our patients' well-being and concerns long after the procedure has been completed. 

Immediately following the procedure patients should restrict activity for the first 24 hours and limit physically-taxing activities within the first 10 days following the procedure. You will experience some “pinkness” and minimal scabbing in the harvested area of your scalp. This is normal and should subside within the first 10 days following the procedure. If you like, you may wear a hat or light makeup to cover some of the pinkness and scabbiness, but be careful not to further irritate the hair transplant area. During the follow-up visits we will continue to provide active insight and assistance as you recover while your natural head of hair continues to grow back. Within 3-5 months you should expect to see new hair growing at its normal rate.

Do you prefer to wear your hair short? Not a problem! The results you will see are from your own natural hair growth. It’s your choice to let it grow or cut it at your leisure. You are not limited to having to cover scarring from traditional strip surgery. The results are permanent because the hair in the back area of the head is resistant to the hormone dihydrotestosterone or DHT that most commonly causes hairs in other areas to be lost. Your DHT-resistant hair maintains that resistance for the rest of your life no matter where the hair is transferred to on the head.
