Get ready to step out from behind your hair loss, regain your confidence and restore your natural appearance with the help of PAI Medical Group of Indiana.

Am I a good candidate for a hair transplant from PAI Medical Indiana?

Most people suffering from androgenetic alopecia or other common hair loss types are candidates for hair transplantation with PAI Medical Indiana. Hair loss candidacy essentially depends on three key elements:

  • How much permanent hair you still have.
  • The degree or severity of baldness or thinning you are experiencing relative to the amount of hair you still have.
  • Your overall hair restoration goals and expectations – We place a high level of emphasis on a patient’s expectations, and an honest conversation regarding potential hair loss in the future and what you want to achieve long term with your hair transplant procedure is crucial.

Is there an ideal age to begin hair transplantation?

A commonly-debated subject among hair restoration surgeons, the ideal age range for hair transplantation isn’t as cut-and-dry as you might think. Research has shown transplanting in the early stages of hair loss could provide for easier concealment of hair loss, which would allow the patient to limit the appearance of thinning before it becomes noticeable. At PAI Medical Indiana, we always recommend a private consultation for all our prospective hair transplant patients, particularly patients under the age of 24. For patients that are a minor, we require the parent or guardian to be present during all consultations.

What is the difference between hair grafts and PAI Medical Levels?

A hair graft can contain anywhere from 1 to 10 hairs, generally speaking. A large number hair restoration clinics charge for hair transplants by the graft. The problem with this approach? Because the number of grafts is unique to each and every patient and every procedure, predicting a consistent range in order to provide accurate pricing is quite difficult, making it a bit of a mystery in many cases as to how much the final cost of your hair transplant will actually be. The PAI Medical Levels measure number of hairs, not hair grafts, and the general area to be covered in the procedure, which reduces confusion for the patient and allows us to offer more affordable transplant options.

How many hairs will be transplanted?

One graft does not equal one hair. Our hair restoration physicians will harvest hair grafts from 1-7 hairs, depending on the area experiencing hair loss. For example, 1,200 grafts would equal an average of 5,000 to 7,000 hairs. This range of evenly distributed hair grafts will produce a natural hairline with the ideal density and coverage.

How many sessions will I need to achieve results?

One of the many benefits of our Multi-Unit Hair Grafting™ procedure is that we reduce the number of procedures by moving more hair in each procedure.  Multi-Unit Hair Grafting™ allows up to twice the normal hair volume compared to traditional Follicular Unit hair transplants. So you're provided a much better value to meet your hair restoration goals, often in only 1 or 2 procedures.

How long after my hair transplant procedure will I begin to see hair growth?

Generally, hair growth occurs within 3-5 months after the hair transplant procedure. The number of new hairs will continue to increase for 12 months.

What type of post-operative care does PAI Medical provide?

We highly recommend a post-operative treatment program for all of our patients at PAI Medical Indiana. For more information on what you should expect after your hair transplant procedure, please review our hair restoration process.

How soon can I go back to work after the procedure?

We recommend that activity in general is restricted during the first 24 hours after the procedure, as well as limiting physically demanding activities within the first 10 days, or until your sutures are removed. You can return to work within a day or two following your procedure depending on the level of strain your occupation requires, in addition to your overall comfort level following the procedure.

Will Your Hair Grow Back?

Each individual hair goes through a typical life cycle. Hair grows, falls, and regrows. The hair grows from the follicle, or root, underneath the skin. Each hair receives its nourishment from blood vessels at the base of the follicle. The four phases that make up the life cycle are the Anagen, Catagen, Telogen, and Exogen.
Anagen (Growing Phase)
This is the growing phase of the hair. It lasts about two to seven years, determining the length of the hair. A continuous division of cells in the follicle produces this growth by pushing new cells towards the surface.
Catagen (Transition Phase)
The growth of the hair is slowed and eventually stops. This short transitional period lasts about 10 days. The hair begins to retract from the follicle and migrate upward. The stop in growth signifies the death of the hair.
Telogen (Resting Phase)
The follicle remains inactive for a period of about three months. Having risen enough towards the surface, the hair is ready to fall out.
Exogen Phase (New Hair Phase)
The dormant hair sheds, while a new hair begins growth at the follicle. The cycle can then return to the Catagen phase.
On a person’s head there are an average of 100 to 150 thousand hair follicles. It is normal for 50 to 100 hairs to fall out daily. Hair loss and thinning occurs when the hair life cycle is disrupted. There are many conditions that can trigger hair loss such as metabolic imbalances, illness, medication, improper nutrition, etc. It is best to diagnose the problem in the preliminary stages to prevent further hair loss and increase effectiveness of hair restoration by coming to see one of the hair loss experts at PAI Medical Group of Indiana.
PAI offers many solutions to a variety of hair loss situations — from early stages of hair loss to later stages of balding. A few of the options at PAI include: Laser Hair Therapy, Multi-Unit Hair Grafting™, and The ARTAS® Robotic FUE HairTransplant System.
Option for Early Stages of Hair Loss: If you have thin, fine hair or are in the early-to-mid-stages of hair loss, our hair loss prevention and treatment programs may help restore your hair. One major aspect of our program includes Low Level Laser Hair Therapy (LLLT). LLLT is a revolutionary, break-through technology that was originally developed in Europe, and is totally safe and pain-free. Not only can Laser Hair Therapy improve the health of your existing hair and scalp, which may minimize future thinning, Laser Hair Therapy may also promote new hair growth!

Options  for Later Stages of Hair Loss: As hair loss progresses over time due to male pattern baldness, genetics, or if left untreated, clients may need a medical hair transplant. PAI Medical Group is proud to offer their Trademarked Multi-Unit Hair Grafting™ procedure and the latest technology in hair transplantation — The ARTAS® Robotic System. Multi-Unit Hair Grafting™ uses a blend of different hair groupings (grafts) that are moved, or redistributed, according to the natural way in which they exist. By transplanting up to 3 times the amount of hair in a single session, we reduce the number of hair transplant procedures, reduce costs and maximize results. The ARTAS® Robotic FUE System uses high-resolution digital imaging for rapid, micron-level targeting accuracy, and image-guided robotic alignment for speed and precision beyond manual techniques. This procedure's minimally invasive dissection allows for healthy, intact grafts with nearly undetectable harvest sites.
