The resultant depletion of stem cell pools miniaturization of these aged hair follicles.” This means that over time the stem cells wither away due to damage from sun exposure, chemical exposure etc.

Why do we Have Different Types of Hair

Have you ever wondered why the hair on your head is much thicker than that of the rest of your body? We can trace our disproportionate hair back to the earliest existence of mankind. Evidence has shown that early adaptations of our stance play a significant role in why our hair on our head and body are different.

The earliest adaption was going from being quadrupedal to bipedal. Walking upright means that the main attraction for UV rays on our body is our head. Anagen is known as the initial growth phase of the hair follicle. The difference between the hairs on our head compared to the rest of our bodies can be explained by looking closer at the anagen phase, this phase can last as long as several years or as short as a few months. For example, the hairs on your arms typically stay in the anagen phase for a few months, while hairs on our head can stay in the anagen phase for several years. The growth phases are completely different for the two areas of our bodies.

Combining PRP Therapy and Hair Transplants

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy has been around for a while, used as a medical treatment for healing damaged body tissue, etc. PAI Medical Group Indiana is one of a select group of hair restoration industry leaders that are now using this method as a procedure to help thicken and regrow hair or in conjunction with a hair transplant. The Process

The patient’s blood is drawn and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the blood into two components: platelet rich plasma and platelet poor plasma. Patients do not have to have a lot of blood drawn since only a small amount is needed for PRP.
